With the the introduction of Section 17A of the Malaysian Anti Corruption Comission Act 2009 (Amended 2018) imposes liability on a commercial organisation for corruption committed by persons associated with the commercial organisation.The provision takes effect on 1st June 2020 .If charged, it is a defence for the commercial organisation to prove that it had in place adequate procedures to prevent persons associated with the commercial organisations from undertaking such conduct. there it is critical for corporate organisation to have the appropriate systems in place in order to prevent such offences from occurring in the work place.
